In 2021 we hired Finesse Projects to undertake a large renovation of our 110-year old Queenslander. The renovation included comprehensive internal structural and refurbishment works (kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, wardrobes, living areas etc) as well as the entertainment area decking around our pool.
We engaged Marty after going through a failed, frustrating and expensive design process with an architect. Working with Finesse Projects, we discovered that we did not need the architect at all in the first place. Marty listened to our vision and needs, presented practical solutions and options that suited us better, worked interactively with us to refine ideas, and was honest and realistic about what could be done within physical, time and cost parameters. Surveys, new concept and detailed designs, structural engineering checks and construction were all managed professionally by Finesse to provide an end-to-end solution. Detailed ideas were pitched in by Marty and his team, and some very innovative aesthetic details came from their collaboration.
We have been happy with the scoped work as well as the way it was done. Marty and his workforce were organised, flexible, friendly and calm. We both lived and worked from home during the full period of construction (over 6 months during COVID19) – and this included a Grade 12 year for one child, university studies for another, a big, bouncy Labrador who likes to help, and a cat with a sneaky talent for getting herself built into walls. The project was managed in such a way that it allowed all of us to do our thing every day without losing our sanity or sense of humour.
We would recommend Marty and Finesse Projects to anyone who is looking for collaborative, insightful and diligent construction management that makes you feel you’re in safe hands, and we are delighted with our home.
